Why is titanium only malleable when hot?

Why do i get sparks off the tee when i hit my titanium driver?

  • I was playing last night and as it got dull i noticed i was getting a spark when i hit my driver of a wooden tee. why?

  • Answer:

Yeah, it's not the tee, it's small rocks in the grass doing it. Try swinging the club a few times just on the turf and you'll be able to repeat it, probably. Just tell everybody it's your massive club speed ;)

More than likely when you hit the ball the bottom of your driver skim's the ground, and in most tee box's or driving ranges there's grass seed which is partially made of sand, and with your clubhead speed and the titanium hitting the sand creates a spark..... I guess I could of just said it's the titanuim hitting the sand.

it's not the tee, the wood wouldn't create a spark - it usually happens on the range but it can happen on the course also but it's a combination of smalls rocks and grass seed - when your driver comes through the hitting zone, it sweeps the ball off the ground or tee and it makes contact with the ground which is when it sparks - kinda cool

I noticed this the other day too when i swiped my driver off of the grass. yes I am a noobie golfer. but i saw 3 sparks fly.

Sand causes the spark!

It may be the cast iron tee or the fact you are hitting roller bearings. If Tiger can't get sparks hitting a golf ball off a wooden tee neither can you!
