Why end a play on a cliffhanger?

Why do women try to play in Mens golf touraments. They always end up playing poorly.?

  • Over the last decade you have seen women that excel at the womans professional golf level trying here and there to play against the men. When they play against women their level of play is so much better than when they enter a mens professional golf event. When playing in LPGA or Future tour events they play great. Then when they enter a PGA Tour event or even a mens mini tour event they play like crap. Why is this?

  • Answer:

A tournament sponsor has a limit for completely unrestricted exemptions available, and those exemptions are often used to invite players; including amateurs and women who can increase ticket sales and tournament visibility. Money, that's your answer to why women play in Men's Golf Tournaments; they're invited by sponsors to up media ratings and ticket sales. In your words: Then when they enter a PGA Tour event or even a Mens mini tour event they play like crap. Why is this? They haven't won or come close, but I wouldn't say they play like crap, nor are they really expected to win, but a lot of the guys really get shaken up about this....perhaps they're thinking, could they win? Some of Michelle Wie's golf records: The youngest winner (male or female) of an adult USGA-sanctioned tournament – Age 13 (2003 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links) The youngest player to make a cut in an LPGA tournament and major – Age 13 (2003 Nabisco Championship) The youngest player to play in a PGA Tour event – Age 14 (2004 Sony Open) The lowest round by a female in a PGA Tour event – 68 (2004 & 2006 Sony Open) The first female to qualify for a USGA championship that is generally played by males Age 15 (2005 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship Pittsburgh sectional) Annika, Crap? Playing under pressure that most PGA Tour players will never come close to experiencing, Sorenstam was the picture of grace under pressure. She showed poise, dignity, class and sportsmanship - qualities that were completely missing in those critics who chose to pop off rather than offer thoughtful analysis. She also displayed her incredible skills as a golfer. Her accuracy off the tee and with her long irons was the envy of every golfer, male or female. Through the first round she led the field in driving accuracy, was in the top 20 in greens in regulation, and was 84th out of 111 in driving distance. Unfortunately, her shortcomings on the course were also on display - she simply could not make a putt on Day 1, when she might have gone as low as 66 or 67. By Day 2, when her putting had smoothed out, nerves were finally getting to her off the tee. Babe Zaharias, before my time....but like George Herman Ruth ("The Sultan of Swat", "The King of Crash", "The Colossus of Clout", "The Babe", and the most known "The Great Bambino"), an athlete that has made history...Hall of Fame. I wouldn't call that crap, I'd call that determined, focused, talented and amazing. Mini Tours....not so poorly Brittany Lincicome, 3rd place Moonlight Tour event, scoring a 1-under-par 71 at Windermere Country Club to finish five shots behind winner David Ziglar. Not bad for Barbie (One of her many sponsors). Brittany was not the only professional woman golfer playing men’s mini-tour events to stay sharp during the long lull between the end of one LPGA Tour season and the start of another. Teen whiz kid Alexis Thompson regularly plays with the guys to keep her competitive juices flowing. In fact, Thompson finished three shots back of the winner this January at a Minor League Golf Tour (MLGT) event in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The 15-year-old, who’s not old enough to be an LPGA member but awaits an edict from the tour about whether she’ll receive additional sponsor’s exemptions in 2011, closed just two shots back of PGA Tour vet and Nationwide Tour winner Brad Adamonis of Cumberland, R.I. The PGA Why do they play poorly or not as well as most of the men, because they are women and there is no comparison, but isn't it fun and exciting to watch....after all it is the PGA, not the MPGA and it is open to all invited.

First off, sponsors allow whomever they want to play in an event. Secondly, a golf course set up for an LPGA event is similar to a course set up for a Champions Tour event. The longest course a LPGA event will be played on maybe 6500 yards. PGA events have been set up on courses over a 1000 yards longer. Very few women can hit the ball far enough to compete on a course that long. When Annika played at the Colonial, that course was longer than any course on the LPGA tour, but 500 yards shorter than most courses on the PGA Tour. That's why amateurs should always play from the appropriate tees.

Its publicity for the woman player and for the sponsors. I used to respect Michelle Wie, but it really seems like she's become this publicity hound. I'm not anti-LPGA or anti-Michelle, but come on, let her win 10 or 11 times on the LPGA before she tries to play from the men's tees. She's only won twice on the LPGA so far.

Money. Money, Money. Anika tried because she was the best female golfer. She needed to find better competition! And it must be noted that she did not finish last place so that goes to show she can compete with CERTAIN men, but maybe not the best.

Here's my take: Babe Zaharias competed in mens events because A) she was really good; B) by all accounts, she loved the challenge and C) she was really good. Annika did it for fun. She out drove Fred Funk on the first tee... remember the skirt he had to wear walking to his ball? Brittany Lincicome is doing it because it's close to her home and it's a way to get ready for the real season sooner (there's a long layoff from now until the first tourney of the year). She's said before that she's a slow starter and wants to change that. This Hooter's Tour event is what might do it. She's one of the longest on the LPGA Tour, which is longer than some of the shortest hitters on the PGA Tour, so it's not like she's completely overmatched. Michelle Wie is the exception. She got exemptions into tourneys that were sponsored by companies that just happened to be sponsoring her, as well. The situation is just a little bigger than this, though... her attitude was what rubbed people the wrong way. She hadn't won anything since junior tourneys, hadn't won on the LPGA Tour at the time and thought she could go in and dominate. When things didn't go her way, she found an excuse to WD. It wasn't just the men's tourney's, either- remember when she withdrew from Annika's tourney when she was in danger of losing her status for shooting an 88? She was also seen as disrespectful to the LPGA Tour by not wanting to be a member (even though the big wigs needed her to market their product), but cherry pick tourneys from both the men's and women's tours. On a personal note, I wouldn't say Wie "excels" at golf... at least, not until she wins a major.

Not all men are good nor woman. It just happen that mos men played golf a lot than woman also man like tiger wood are know for playing golf that's why it was perceived that men are good at it. Most woman who play golf are usually unknown to most man because feminism are not being address on golf club. Man on the other hand usually engage in golf because this is their past time and where they can unwind. Golf vacation are being rendered to most companies that most employees are men.

They don't play like crap in the men's events. Their games just don't stack up with the men. And remember the golf courses the men are playing are much much tougher. So maybe they're shooting 15 under on the female side but shooting 6 over on the mens side. I thought Annika played great in her one attempt and also Wie played great once in Hawaii.

Michelle Wie tried that in several tournaments where whe was able to get a sponsor's exemption. Obviously it was as a challenge to herself, to see if she could measure up to the players on the men's tour. Same as when Babe Didriksen played. More for he own measuring stick than an actual expectation to win.

think about it, the tee diference is soo large, that they for once arent hitting wedge into every hole. its a joke. Anika tried it, said it wasnt for her. anybody else to do is stupid

Using this simple golf swing technique I was able to drop 7 strokes in 2weeks. Give it a go!
