• i saw this ad on golfchannel for a golf academy.edu college for getting jobs in the golf industry..............is there any money in the golf industry for graduates of a college like that and what would you be?

  There are "golf" schools out there that will teach you what you need to know. And they have graduates from their school that have jobs in the golf industry so there is a network. I have been in the business for 15 years. If I knew then what I know now, I would have enrolled in what is called the Professional Golf Management (PGM) at an accredited university. While I have gained invaluable experience through the years I am still an Apprentice and make around $20,000 a year. I don't pay to play golf, which I do play 5-6 days a week, so with the money I DON'T pay, it's more like double that. Caddying can get you better money, but is not a guaranteed job with security. I made a little over $2000 in five days a couple years ago, but it is hard work, and you don't usually get to play golf for free, because you are not employed by the club. The PGM program will give you a college degree and Class-A PGA professional status upon graduation, which will substantially raise the $$$ you will make in the golf biz. Some PGA club pros make $100,000 + a year. Not bad, for walking around, smiling, shaking hands, teaching and playing golf, and doing a little paperwork. IMO these "golf schools" only teach you what you can learn working at a golf course and will not "fast-track" you to a great golf professional career. Hope it helped. Good luck!
