What should I wear with sequined sperry topsiders?

Would it be okay to wear a polo, knee high shorts, and Vans sneakers to the driving range?

  • This is my first time to the golfing range and I don't know what to wear. I've never played golf either so I don't have much knowledge about proper attire. The golfing range I'm going to IS attatched to two golf courses. It is also a public driving range. http://premiergc.com/jefferson-park.php its jefferson park. I'm 15 and a girl and I will be bussing to the driving range. So, what do i wear? The vans sneakers I have are like so: http://www.goodtime.com.au/files/era%20%28black_white%29%20regular%20stock%20item.jpg but I also have a pair of sperry topsiders that i wear casually but should i wear the vans (better grip) or my sperry topsiders with little grip? and can i wear jeans? or should i wear a pair of black knee high shorts?

  • Answer:

I play Jefferson several times a year,as you probably know it's the home course of Fred Couples,he grew up just a few blocks away and made his first hole in one on number 6 of the par 3 course. It's very casual there. You can wear anything you want, your ideas of proper clothing are totally acceptable. As soon as you can hit your wedge go to the small course and have fun.

There's two schools of thought on this: 1. wear what's comfortable, whether it's you dress shoes, golf shoes, sneakers; tank top, t-shirt or polo; track pants, gym shorts, slacks... so long as your comfortable. 2. dress in what you'd wear on the course. It's about familiarity- if you get certain "feels" in your swing that are only evident when you wear polos, stick with that. Whatever you choose, there's no right or wrong way.

Polo, knee-high shorts, and sneakers are fine for the driving range. Jeans are fine too, but I'm not sure how comfortable you'll be in those especially if it's hot where you are. And if you're concerned about shoe-grip, you should purchase a pair of golf-shoes that have the plastic spikes on the soles. Most public courses aren't too picky anymore about your attire as long as it's reasonable -- i.e. don't show up in a tank-top and swimming trunks, and you'll be fine.

Spheres of Influence

It's not too important what you wear to a driving range, as long as you feel comfortable. I wouldn't wear jeans as they can chaff and restrict movement. The vans sneakers will be ok for your first few lessons but buy golf shoes for the course, or your feet might slip. The following link shows you Ralph Lauren golf clothes to give you some ideas.

Get use of the golf accessories that makes you comfortable.. remember, what you wears matter..Basically, jeans aren't advisable, you can wear whatever you like as long as you are comfortable with it.

You can wear whatever you want to a public driving range. A tee shirt and sandals would work. If you continue to go in the future I'd recommend a pair of golf shoes though.

What you've picked out should be fine, but even if it's a range I would stay away from "jeans" as they're frowned upon as golfing apparel.

u can pretty much wear anything nobody really cares anymore :)
