Can you make your car gps a golf gps?

I have a Garmin Nuvi car gps, can i put golf courses on there and have it tell me the distances and such?.

Sorry, no. The detail used in a golf GPS is much higher then a travel GPS, so the technology is not yet available. You may want to try one of the golf GPS programs designed for smart phones.

You would think that would be coming soon, but I haven't heard of one. On the other hand, smartphones may be replacing both the automobile GPS and the Golf GPS handheld. It's cheaper to use your phone for these things, but probably still not as convenient. Garmin does well in both auto and golf, so maybe they'll be the one to put it together!
