When to get fitted professionally?

• I have a couple of leaks in my bag that I'd love to correct. Background: I had a driver custom fit, ended up with a Wishon 420cc head on an Accra 75g M4 shaft, by far it's the best club in my bag. Got fitted for Ping irons, basically happy with them (is anybody truly in love with their irons, lol) Odyssey 2 ball putter, center shafted, 34 inch, it works even when I suck. The leaks are with my fwy woods and wedges. I love the look of my cleveland gunmetal 56 and 52 wedges but often times they don't love me back. The 56 is std length but I only use it out of greenside rough out to 50 yds and from the bunkers. I cut the 52 an inch and feel very confident with it around the greens out to 75 yds, but since its low bounce I don't use it out of the rough. I hit my pw 125 full, 105 yds 3/4, thats a big hole from 75 to 105 yds. My driver crushes, no doubt. My 3w and 5w suck, off the rack crap that costs me strokes. Hit the 3w about 245, the 5w about 210 carry. Behind that I only carry a 4i that I hit 185. Major gap there. I don't have a hybrid. My question is this: My swing is not dialed in at the moment. The clubfitter I want is 90 miles away. Gas is $4 a gallon. Should i wait til my swing is grooved or should I drive 90 and get on the launch monitor and try my best to make my best swing to get fitted? My first big tourney is next Saturday.

  I say go for it. The point of fitting is to get your clubs to work with you regardless if you're swinging good or bad (especially when it's bad). Now would be the time. The bigger problem I think you'll have is with you: you'll drive that far, and the whole time you're going to put pressure on yourself (because of what you've mentioned). Most likely that'll wind up screwing up your first attempt, which will lead to a downward spiral. Go in loose and have fun with it. Just hit it- I bet you'd be surprised.
