How do I fix my driver slice?

When i golf i slice but only with my driver how should i fix it?

  • iv been just aiming left but its just to much of a slice to keep duing that <im fourteen and i use adult clubs>

  • Answer:

A slice with the driver is caused by the club head approaching the ball from an outside-to-inside path, with the clubhead "open." You are probably strong and perhaps used to play baseball, which promotes staying well behind the ball through impact, and hence the open clubhead. Instead, when you reach the top of your backswing, try to feel yourself moving to your left side (if you swing right handed), while your club moves closer to your body, and then allow it to release from an inside-to-outside path, which will promote a draw spin, or a straight ball. You will be hitting it great in no time.

It is important to keep your technic true to form without changing it for one club. The driver is the longest and least lofted club in the bag. Because of this any imperfections are glaring. Recheck your alignment using railroad tracks, your swing in the mirror or camcorder, and most important check your grip. The railroad tracks are two clubs on the ground pointed toward your target to help your swing path. The mirror or cam will show what you really do compared with what you think you are doing. If you rotate your right hand more to the top of the club being right handed. Remember golf is 50% physical and 90% mental. Good luck.

Start by taking a lesson. And never look at your own shot. If you look, it will slice. This is a swing key i use to keep my head down.

The easiest tip and quickest fix i can give you is to tee the ball up a little higher and stand a little further away from the ball. This will promote a sweeping swing path off the tee and force you to hit the ball from the inside. Also you have to elimiate the mental thought that you are going to slice.

get your clubs fit for you by a pro at a golf course. there is only a 3% chance that a golf club of the shelf will fit your swing. so take the time and make sure your sticks match your body n swing. You wouldnt buy size 14 shoes if you wear 9's right? If your 14 you will still grow so i recommend getting your clubs 1/4 of an inch longer so you can grow into them. only when you have the right sticks can you even begin to look at the swing.

Use your 3 Wood off the tee!

Steve915

OH I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!!!! Go down to a smaller club. I had a driver and always sliced it so I started hitting my 3 wood off the tee. When I played in a golf tourney everyone mocking it but they regretted it when they saw how straight it was!!! HAHA! anyway go down to a smaller club it is probably to long or to big of a club. go down to a 3 wood like I did. you might lose a little distance but you will take many strokes off your score!
