What golf clubs should i carry?

How many clubs can I carry in my golf bag?

  • Is there a standard or regulation number of clubs that I can carry in my golf bag?

  • Answer:

Both the USGA (US) and Royal & Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews (Europe) allow a maximum of 14 clubs. Rule 4-4. Maximum of 14 Clubs a. Selection and Addition of ClubsThe player must not start a stipulated round with more than 14 clubs. He is limited to the clubs thus selected for that round, except that if he started with fewer than 14 clubs, he may add any number, provided his total number does not exceed 14. The addition of a club or clubs must not unduly delay play (Rule 6-7) and the player must not add or borrow any club selected for play by any other person playing on the course.

Other answers

You should always carry 14 clubs in your bag. Here is what I carry: woods: 1, 3, 5 irons: rescue club(3/4 iron), regular 4 iron, 5,6,7,8,9 irons wedges: pitching wedge(48 degrees), utility/gap wedge(52 degrees), sand wedge(56 degrees) putter Note: You can get a lob wedge(60 degrees) if you so desire and take out the regular 4 iron. Best of luck with golf.

There are only limits to the number of clubs that you carry if you are playing in USGA sanctioned events, otherwise the answer is - How many clubs does your bag hold?

TheAceofClubs

14 clubs is the maximum number allowed by the rules of golf.
