What is a good set of clubs for a beginning golfer?

  • I am a 14 year-old beginning golfer. I have taken a one week camp with pretty good rentals (a full Nike set with 12 clubs and Sasquatch woods/drivers). The camp is ending and I don't have any clubs. I play scrambles, but have yet to play a full game. I am considering used clubs, and in my experience I haved only used a 3 wood, 4 iron, pitching wedge, and a putter in my set (I don't know if io should use more I usually just adjust my swing. My dad can get a discount a 20- 40% discount on certain clubs from a small selection because he works at a hotel with a golf course. How much do you usually save with used clubs and what are good beginner clubs?

    Firstly make sure they are all part of the same set. With used clubs make sure the grips are not worn, if some are then make sure you get the full set regripped.

Wilson and Top Flight both make sets for under 200 dollars that would be great for a beginner, but if you don't care about new clubs then definitely find a used set at a yard sale or off craigslist.

, go to yard sales, you will find what you want for nothing. I have a set of Mizuno Graphite shaft irons I got for $10.00. Current model Nike driver & Ping fairway driver $5.00 for both. My practice clubs are Wilson Pro Staff Graphite I bought for $1.00 each at a thrift store

just get clubs that offer forgiveness since you are a beginner. As for what brand, that is for you to decide. Go to a golf store and try out a few different and see what you like best. Ping G20, G15 for example Look into Adams as well.

I have been playing golf since I was 3 years old. I have gotten a HOLE-IN-ONE with a 25 cent, scratched, old wilson golf ball. I have used many different clubs in my time as a golfer. No matter what anyone tells you, never ever, ever believe that the equipment you play with will produce good scores. Get the cheapest, most durable sets of clubs together at the shop. Then take the 5 iron from each set. Hit the different five irons about 5-7 times each. Choose the set with the 5 iron that feels the best to you. It's all about feel. Never the looks, the brand, or the colors. Go get em, and in time you will learn how to buy a newer, more expensive set.
