Increase distance speed quickly?

If I increase my swing speed, approximately how much yardage will it add to my distance?

  • I have always had a slow to medium back swing, but my down swing gets fast. I dont like this. my back swing is medium speed then fast down swing, then i end up "coming up on my shot," not staying down on it. I'm trying to have a solid, fast back swing AND down swing. Approximately how much yardage will be added to my distance? I hit my driver from 180 to 205, my 5 wood 140 to 155 ish, hyprid about 140-150, so on so on. what do you think? and are you an experienced golfer? I lift weights every other day and I do a special golf swing resistance exercise thing also. Is there anything else I can possibly do to get more distance? anything i mean anything???

What a silly question. Only you can find that out. Go to a driving range and experiment. Use your usual swing and then use your newer, faster swing. If you're really used to your original slower swing, it will take a very long time for your body and mind to adjust and remember to go faster. Adjusting your swing is golf can have massive negative consequences on your game in the short-term but if you keep practicing, it'll improve and eventually, you'll be better than at any stage in the past!

A faster backswing will not add distance to your shot, a smoother backswing and transition to your down swing , along with powering through the shot will add distance. With me, my club head is gaining speed all the way through impact. I was swinging hard from the top before, now my transition is smoother and I swing all the way through the ball...it added 40 yds and way more control.
