What is a foot valve in a pump?

Bike tyre deflates when trying to detach the pump?

  • I have a bike with schrader valve and I am using the foot pump to inflate the tyres. The problem is when try to detach the pump the tyre deflates almost completely. What could be wrong tyre valve, pump.

  • Answer:

If you have a bad valve stem, you can either change the stem or just get a new tube. I usually opt for the new tube so that I will have one less thing to be concerned about when I'm riding. Tubes are cheap. Whenever Performance puts them on sale, I buy them by the handful. HTH

You have a bad valve stem. You can buy a stem remover and extra stems at any auto store. I just bought a little kit at Auto Zone for $5 that had the tool, stems, valve caps, and a small pressure guage. I had a bad valve stem on my truck that had a slow leak and that took care if it.
