Where can I buy lifeguard shorts?

I do a lot of cycling (mountain bike). Do I need to buy cycling shorts?

  • I love to cycle around on my mountain bike. Sometimes I like to go for long distances and other times I like to just go for short distances. I go on the road, the sidewalk, off roading, where-ever is fun pretty much and fast. Sometimes I get uncomfortable from biking a lot and I heard cycling shorts is a big help. Some people said just buy a gel seat and don't bother with weird tight looking shorts. I prefer wearing tight under armor boxers when cycling but I wear shorts on top. I still end up getting uncomfortable. What should I do? What are the pros and cons of cycling shorts?

    Cycling shorts have padding that make them much more comfortable and a lot cooler. I don't even bother riding unless I have a pair on. You should try a pair of mountain bike shorts they have a baggy nylon short covering. I just wear regular cycling shorts and a jersey and stay pretty comfortable even in the hottest weather. I buy a lot of clothing from Performance Bike they have their own brand and it's very good quality for the price. Keep an eye out for sales through the year. You can get mountain bike shorts with the padding, they don't need to look like lycra. They look like board shorts.

Cycling shorts do help of course because they are designed for cycling. The only cons really are that you can look like a bit of an idiot wearing them, but other than that, good quality cycling shorts do help a lot. If you don't want to invest in an £50 or £60 pair, you can just use sports shorts and they are fine for short distance mountain biking. Smithers Gel covers and seats do not work as well as padded cycling shorts. Padded mountain bike shorts would be cheaper as well. There is a reason that padded cycling shorts have been around for century. Soccerref
