What is the best hiking gear for extreme rain?

Where can I find some rain gear that will make my commute a dry one?

  • I'm going to try and keep this brief. I live in Vancouver and it rains a lot. I started using my bike to commute this past spring (prior to the heavy rain). Fall is here now and I need to find some rain gear to bike in. It can't be too loose or it will get caught on the chain. This is the dilemma I am having right now. Does anyone know where I can find some adequate rain gear that will keep me dry on my 20 minute commute? I would like to avoid the wetsuit look if at all possible. I would obviously be wearing this over my clothing. I'm open to ordering online or picking up in store. Also, is there anything on the market that would keep the water out of my eyes as I'm riding? It's not bad when I'm going in the direction of the rain, but when riding into the rain it can be hard to see. My helmet has a small visor which does help, but only so much.

    Whistler Go to you local bike shop. The local bike shop will bring in clothing to meet the needs of local riders and local conditions. I have an old set of Helly Hansen's that I wear when it rains. They not only work well in the rain, but they breath rather well too... so no heat or moisture build up! Soccerref

big poncho also get fenders for your bike really the trick is not to sweat or you just get wet from the inside usually anything claiming to be 'breathable' is pretty much lying if it;s breathable it leaks if it;s rainproof it isn;t breathable you will sweat like a hog if you try going over about 10 mph wle
