Can you ride your bike while drunk??

How can I encourage my son to ride a two-wheeler bike?

  • My son is almost 6 years old and he broke the training wheels on his bike, so I told him he's old enough to ride on two wheels, like his big sister does. I did some research on the net about teaching him how to ride and I'm trying to have him push with his feet and balance the bike, and when he masters that, I plan to have him put his feet on the pedals while coasting, and finally, start pedalling the bike. It seems like a more practical way to learn to ride than having me run along with him and hold the bike (I did try that at first, and he won't let me let go at all.). *sigh* He seemed excited when I first showed him how to balance the bike and pick up his feet, but he's tried it three times, for about 5 minutes each time, and then he gives up and won't try anymore. It's like pulling teeth to get him out on the bike. How can I "light a fire under him?" I want him to learn to ride so I can take him on bike rides with his older sister. Anyone have ideas that have worked?

My answer is going to be allot tougher than any other answer you have received but it is guaranteed to work as I have used it my self to teach several kids how to ride with out training wheels, kids including my son who only learned how to ride this may and to day he rode 11 miles ( he is 6 ) and a 12 year old who was still riding with training wheels when I tough my son how to ride. So here it is, don't give in to his tantrums, be strong for him, don't push his bike or hold him just tell him he has to do this no matter what, There is no other choice, screaming and crying wont help because when your done you will still have to ride, so just get on and peddle, stay positive and really praise him when he get even one peddle with out falling because it will make all the difference. I know it sounds tough but it has worked 18 times now with kids ranging from 3 to 12. good luck and keep it fun

1. bribery. 2. pointing out the "cool big kids" on their 2-wheel bikes. he will at some point realize that it's not as hard as it seems. as children age, they acquire coordination. (well, the lucky ones do.)

I would say to bribe him by telling him that if he learns how to ride a 2-wheeler than you will do something with like go somewhere that you know that he loves and if he does succeed then you will take him there.

I wouldn't bribe him. I would just let him go the way he wants. If he doesn't want to ride a bike without training wheels, then it is his choice. It may happen that he will get teased for not being able to ride a 2 wheeler and want to learn. But, forcing him to learn is a waste of time, IMO.

You shouldn't have to bribe him, just keep him out on his bike longer. Try this, hold onto him and keep him steady and let him pedal then do that a few times tell him to stop while your still holding on, then after he gets used to it just hold onto him for like half the ride he was doing before and if he keeps steady he knows how to ride it and he will see and realize what he has to do to stay sturdy on his bike. It might be too hard for him to learn by using his feet on the ground your probably better off just running around with him :/ Good luck with that.

tell him that if you dont learn now you will be too busy to do it when he is older. also tell him that everyone knows how to ride a bike if he does not learn he will be left out.

I would just get another set of training wheels and let him ride that way until next year --- the more you try to tell a young child how he should do something the less likely he is to want to do it ....
