What is a good bmx bike to get?

• I am thinking about starting to ride bmx and I was wondering what a good bike was and where a good place to go to buy a bmx bike.I was looking at the dk siklon but I'm not sure so if I could get some advice that would be great. I am about 5'9" and 110 lbs.

  Well it all depends on what your willing to spend. The problem is that if you want a bike thats good, and will last some abuse for at least a year, the bike will probably cost around 400 if your medium to rough on it. BMX and just cruising around is two very different things. Even a walmart bike could be good enough for cruising.. besides that point, the dk siklon is a good starter bike, but when you want to upgrade when you really get into it, theres really no room to buy parts without having to replace the whole bike. If you can get the money, go for a bike like this: http://www.danscomp.com/101790.php?cat=BIKES . It has a 25/9 gearing. There are 25 teeth on the front sproket and 9 teeth on the back. There are two main types of sprokets/hubs in the back. You could get a freewheel or a cassette. a cassette is much better then a freewheel because it can take the most abuse. Freewheels are something that would probaly come on the DK because of the larger drive, but a cassett would be on bikes with 22/8, 25/9, 28/10, or 30/11. its rare to see a cassette larger then 11. As far as the frame composition, there are two main types of the same metal they use. HI-TENSIL steel, and chromoly which is a stronger form of steel. Chromoly isnt lighter, however they can use less of it to make parts because it will be stronger. Make sure to get a bike with a 3 piece crank.
