-
Which would be the best bike to get and why? Out of these.. Giant Alias 07 Giant Alias Giant Yukon Giant Yukon 07 Giant STP-2 08 Specialized Rockhopper Disk 06 Specialized Rockhopper 06 I mostly will be using it on roads and pavement but sometimes for offroad. I am very new to bikes so i am appreciative for advice. Thanks : )

Answer:
It is difficult to say because pavement and sometimes offroad to you might be vastly different from what those same terms mean to me. Look at the Giant and Specialized websites..the bikes should have a small documentary about their intended use/design. Also, seek the help of the sales staff at the bike shop. Tell them what your budget is, what if any special features are important to you, and how you plan to ride the bike. They will also help you fit the bike. Lasty, if your bike shops have 06 models new on the floor, I would expect those would have a steep discount and will still have a lifetime frame warranty. That would make those more attractive to me, because neither Specialized or Giant has made any significant frame changes in those models from 06-08. They have made slight changes, but nothing that will affect your riding. I just bought a 07 Cannondale for 35% off the original price.

The only test that makes any sense is to test ride the bikes and pick the one in your price range that fits you best and feels the best. It is the one that you will enjoy the most. Personally, I own a Giant. The other brand I was considering when looking to buy was Specialized. You can't go wrong either way. They are both major brands with reputations for quality bikes. HTH

personaly i think what it comes down to is jumping on the bike and goin for a ride and finding what bike feels the best, but first you need to decide what you would be doing more off ie downhill/cross country or street riding cause if you were to buy a hardtail such as the stp then you will find that is you take it downhill you are going to start breaking things on the bike and yourself. can i ask you where you are in aus and what dealer you are looking at buying the bike off

both bikes are awesome. i had giant yukon for 2 years. they are reliable but heavy. specialized might be a bit lighter. ride them both and sprint lets say 50 meters, in which ever bike you are faster, take it home carlos http://www.bikingthings.com
