What kind of BMX should I get? Information inside.?

  • I am moving soon, and I will have to take a bus to school, but I dont like taking the bus .. My school will be about 40 minutes to one hour away from my new home. I am looking for a BMX Bike that I can ride to school and back. I will also like to ride it for fun, do tricks on them etc .. SO i guess i will be riding on the bike a lot. I am willing to spend $250 on a BMX Bike. Any ideas guys? Any sites? Or any stores in Brooklyn that you know? Please dont count this, but light bikes will be nice. Just a little something to say :) I care about the weight :) But whatever, doesnt really matter. Thank you!

    well for a bike your gonna be spending that much time on i suggest you make a little bigger investment. most bikes for that much money are all hi-ten steel tubing and heavy. they also are the bare minimun for stuff such as sealed and loose ball bearings. sealed last a lot longer and go farther without much maintenance. and when you need to work on it, it takes less than fifteen minutes. so.... i would look at a bike around the 300-400 dollar range. like a fitbike. (www.fitbikeco.com) they make good bikes for every kind of bike. there also light and good looking. haro makes good beginer bikes too. a little on the heavy side. but good beginner bikes. just about every major shop sells haro's now days. too look at alot of good bikes go to these websites for bmx mail order. www.albes.com www.danscomp.com if you have any questions on a specific bike feel free to email me, i know my stuff.

Haro X Series and Haro F Series are nice, and some are under $250. they're quite light, around 29 lbs for the X Series and 33 lbs for the F Series. Have fun!

ok even though this is above your price range the mirraco icon option 339.99 29.03 pounds it is really light for its price most bikes under 30 are 499.99 and up if u still want a bike for that price chek out haro u can get some of there f series for under 300 but they are over 30 pounds like 34 wich is still pretty light if you have lifted a bike on the streets it is probally around 4 pounds that is what most bikes are like

a bmx bike would be nice to do tricks, of course. but riding an hour to school is crazy. i think that you are a little in over your head. haro bikes are ok. they will last you and can take a lot of beating. i ride a mirraCo Black Pearl series and i love it. i like this company alot. you can look cause they have all different levels of bikes and there are some that are like $250. if you are looking go to www.danscomp.com. that is where i buy everything they have the cheapest prices and everything imaginable. good luck :)
