Where can I find a cheap pretty bike?

Where can i find a cheap non motorized trike or four-wheel bike?

  • hey, i'm about to start college and i'm living on campus. i'd like some form of transportation that will give me exercise and be able to easily lug around some books or groceries. since i have some MAJOR balance issues, i thought a stable trike or four wheel bike would be a good option. i've looked into vendors like rhoades car but they're kind of expensive. does anyone know where i can get a cheap, general use trike or "car style" bike for around a thousand dollars or less?

  • Answer:

Adult trikes are available at most cycling stores (ask at the counter) and via Internet. Example here. http://www.bikemania.biz/Worksman_3_Speed_Port_O_Trike_Adult_Tricycle_p/worksman_pt3cb.htm This will do the job for you, but your going to wear some ribbing and heckling. You will be able to get a new one of this style well under a grand. A recumbent trikes are much cooler looking machine. Most people want to have a go at them. You will have to pay a bit more than a grand for a new one. You might get a used one under a grand if you look hard. Here are two cheaper examples. http://www.wizwheelz.com/ http://www.actionbent.com/TWTRIKE.html Check out this link for reviews and general info. http://www.bentrideronline.com/

I recently was on a quest for a new bike myself. I was introduced to a "recumbent" style trike made by Sun Bicycles. www.sunbicycles.com You can check them out and also look for local dealers. It is called the "EZ-Tadpole. It sits low to the ground and has a full back "reclined" seat. It is a reverse trike meaning that the two wheels are in the front and the single wheel is on the back. After taking one of these for a spin, I ended up purchasing three of them for myself, my wife, and my father. We all enjoy them very much. They are the cheapest production trike like this we have found on the market at $1100. Unfortunately, they are also the heaviest at 49 lbs. and the slowest. Although I have had mine up to 28 mph going full steam down hill. I have found some similar designed trikes on Ebay that are slightly cheaper but they are not production and do not have any warranties. I have recently found that Wal-mart has brought back the old style trikes. These are the ones that has the single wheel on front and two on the back with the big basket on the back as well. I think these were only a couple hundred. If this is what you are looking for, you can run by and check them out. TGP
