How Much Is 1950 Schwinn Bike Worth?

Would the Schwinn Solution be a good bike for me?

  • I'm not looking to spend a fortune. I don't have much money to begin with. I was told to not get a bike from Walmart and I don't plan to. The Schwinn Solution looks like it'd be a great entry level bike and with quality components above what a Walmart bike would offer. I'm not sure if that is true though. The bike is around $200 which is $100 better than the next best bike I could find. Mostly I just want to ride local pavement and streets. I'm not in great shape, I'm not looking to ride in a triathlon or ride up a mountain so I think it'd be best to just get something well-suited for my needs. I do plan on setting up a trainer to use the bike on too. Do you think Schwinn Solution would be good or should I look for something else? http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11367697&mr:trackingCode=ABC20DC6-1B5B-E011-BB8E-001B21631C34&mr:referralID=NA Amazon shows it in a different color but I guess they're the same. thanks for any help

If you end up getting that, I'd replace the seat. However, if you could find a good Giant bike shop, you might could get a much nicer bike for another hundred bucks. I ride on a Trek and I love it. It never breaks, and it's a hybrid bike with road bike crankset/tires. I'm not that fit either. My friend has a Giant, and he loves it. It doesn't seem to be much less in quality but you can generally get them for 300 bucks or less in store around where I live. All in all, the schwinn solution doesn't look like a bad bike, but you need to talk to people who have/have had it. It has a front end suspension, disc brakes, short, crappy looking kickstand. Price says 380 on the website provided, but I guess you can find one for 200 bucks. If you're a bigger guy, I'd try to go with metal pedals instead of plastic ones. When I was 220, I broke my plastic pedals within 2 weeks of having my bike...clean break, as in they weren't rotten or anything. It has shimano trigger shifters, which is a major plus. I love mine! You might could go with this bike, and it might not be bad (minus the seat from the looks of it), but I'd get an opinion of someone who has it. No reviews on amazon, but the seat does seem a lot different from the one pictured on the provided website. Good luck, but I don't know if I helped any.
