What are the best bmx tricks to start off with?

What can I do to make my Bmx bike lighter, and what do you think it's like? *pic included!*?

  • http://tinypic.ca/images/l3fhx5i1uul29vglnqpg.jpg Alright. About two months ago, I decided I wanted to start Bmx. This bike caught my eye, so I decided to buy it. What can I do to make it lighter, since it's a bit heavy. I think at the moment it's around 31lbs. Is there anything I could change, take off, or do anything to it to make it lighter? And this isn't a picture of my actual bike, though it's exactly like this. It has the same parts and everything. Though mine's a lot shinyer and that weird plastic thing above the chain never came with my bike. I have no idea what it is or why it's there, but I don't have it. I can't take off my brakes, since I need them for my races against my friends on the bike trail every weekend. Also, what do you think about it? Do you think it has good performence? I like it, because I go to these HUGE dirt bike jumps linked to the bike trail I race on, and it never got damaged on them before. I have also never had any problems with it (other than the weight). I need to make it lighter because I feel like it's too heavy for me to do any flatland tricks. I can't do any yet. Keep in mind I'm a 13 year old girl. Dunno if that helped >_<. Thanks a ton for your help! Best answer to the most helpful answer. Oh, and one more thing. Can you maybe try to keep the prices for changes a bit low? Thanks. ^-^ (for those that didn't see, the link of the picture's at the top)

Hey, ok i also started bmxing a while ago and go on dirt hills and stuff. anyways what u can do is take off the front pegs because they just way you down till you actualy need them and u can also buy a smaller back sprocket and it will make you go faster ( a sprocket is the little circular thing in the back by the tire that the chain is hooked up to) and also what kinda bike is it? and the reason i know so much is because my friend is a in the top 10 bmx biking for the x games

i am not that good at BMX and i dont do it but my brother does so i know a bit about it. and just kinda by my guess of (common sense) and things i think you could take off some if not all of your pegs and it would make it a whole lot lighter. so you decide depending on how many you need on for what tricks but this should take off weight! GOOD LUCK!

I'm BMX mechanic and the Number 1 complaint i get is their bike is too heavy and want to cut the weight down. There is no way to "cut" the weight down. Bike manufacturers make bikes as light as possible. You can replace steel parts with aluminum ones but, to really reduce the weight, you should buy a new bike made entirely from aluminum. You can buy or trade for new aluminum which i can ship to you for a reasonable price. Schroeder's Bike and Trailer in Fort Collins, Colorado (970) 988-0276

well buy lighter pegs lighter handlebars, rims, forks, um the plastic thing above chain um your sprocket make it smaller you can aslo get what they call a frame shape up cost about 100 bucks. they shve the excess metal of your bike fram then shave frame till it limsy then recoat it it gets hard then it wont brake and then they can custom paint it which is a plus
