How long do co2's last?

What do you carry, Co2 inflator or Mini Pump?

  • Never used a mini pump. I'm just so used to the CO2s. I recently ordered a mini pump and was just wondering how long does it take to pump up to 100 psi.

  • Answer:

probably take 2-3 minutes if you have skinny road tires you can live without the 10 extra lbs the issue won;t be hurting the pump if you are strong enough you can probably go the extra 11% how do you know what pressure the CO2 is giving anyway? wle.

Running at 90 PSI will be fine. I generally use miny pump on general riding and CO2 for racing.

I've never used Co2s. The max rating on any pump means the psi at which the air will blow past the seals and it will not pump any higher. However, you may be able to get a few more psi from it. There are pumps rated higher than 90psi. ( Topeak Pocket Rocket=110, Topeak Micro Rocket=160, Blackburn Airstick=160, Crank Bros Power Pump=130). The problem with mini pumps is that, not only do you need a lot of strength to push, but, you must also hold the pump steady at the tire valve. If you rock the valve, it could break. 2 pumps avoid this with a hose. Not exactly mini,(13.5inch) the Topeak Road Morph (140psi) has a hose, gauge and a foot peg. The Lezyne pressure drive (120psi) comes in 2 sizes, each with a reversible hose for schrader/presta.

Are you talking about your tire pressure if the max is 90 psi then then put it at 80 psi if you over inflate the tires your making them stretched out and too thin and subjustile too a flat tire . But I'll stick whatever is easier too carry on you bike maybe a mini punp dude .

Most mini pumps can't inflate to 100 psi. I carry both CO2 and a mini-pump. The mini-pump is to help other cyclists who need some air or if my CO2 runs out. The mini-pump just gets you enough air pressure to limp home or to the nearest bike shop. Running at 90 won't hurt the tire or tube, but it will increase rolling resistance a bit.

The amount of pressure you can pump your tire to is determined by 2 things: how strong you are, and the size of the pump barrel. The smaller the diameter of the barrel, the higher the pressure you can achieve. Larger barrels are good for mountain bike tires which run at lower pressure, and the larger diameter means that you pump a larger volume of air with each stroke. If you own a road bike with high pressure tires, make sure the pump you ordered is designed for road bikes. I use a full size frame pump and can quite easily pump my tires to 110 psi.
