Answer:
Each state and even the counties in the state my have laws about night riding at your age. you should check with each county you will be riding through. Your biggest worry should be can you be seen and can you see. You will need a light that shines on the road its sucks if you run over glass or a dead thing. a bright white light in front to let cars know you are coming at them and a bright red light in the rear to let them know they are approaching you. you might want white light on your helmet so when you move your head the light follows. Wear something that reflexes light. Don't forget common sense. Night riding can be fun. Sometimes its a big rush have fun. K

I live in Portland and red and white reflectors do not meet the city requirements. You must have front and rear lights additionally. I don't think you should be worrying about the laws, you should be worrying whether you can be seen by drivers. I wear a reflective vest and have lights on the front and back of my touring bike. And if a 15 year-old is riding a bike past curfew, which is midnight in Oregon, then they must be traveling between work and their house. Helmets are required by law until you are 18 in Oregon, plus I know several people who have messed up their heads after horrific bike accidents because they didn't wear a helmet.

All you needed to do was look up the states department of transportation. You city or municipality have have laws that vary from the states so you may have to check with them. http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/safety/vehicle/bicycle/rules.htm

You shouldn't be worrying about the laws. Just make sure you can see, and the cars can see you. You should buy a bike light, and a rear flashing light. You can get a decent bike light for $150, and a rear flashing light for $15. Checkout Niterider and cateye.

Regardless of the laws, use a white head light that can be seen for at least 300 feet. At the rear use a flashing red tail light, the LED type. Always wear a helmet ! There are no laws against being safe. A jacket with reflective stripes won't hurt. Not sure about age limits when riding at 'night'. Is that 9 PM, or 1 AM ?

check your state/local laws. most have stipulations as to lights, reflectors, how visible you need to be from specific distances. as to age restrictions, that would likely fall more under any local curfew by-laws. there's nothing wrong with checking with your local police..

i think you just have to have one of those red or white reflector things on the front and back of your bike... at least all the night rider's i've seen just have that and occasionally a helmet.
