Go for a Santa Cruz Blur or any high-end Specialized like an Epic.

For quality and ride you can't beat specialized. Go for the Epic with the brain if you hate hitting bumps....it rides like a hardtail with the rear shock locked until you hit a bump....then the shock activates....on that first bump of course so you never feel it. If they offer the brain shock on the stumpjumper go for it....only about 3 inches of travel on that bike but since your more roadie you probably don't need around 5 inches of travel the epic has but you never know...I like technical courses so I'd go epic....but if you live in the street do the stumpjumper

If you are planning to ride any off road trails (mountain biking) you should get a hybrid bike. It has the traction for off road and road biking. If you are only going to go biking on road, get a road bike. You won't need a full suspension bike for only road use, but may want some for off road. Mountain Bikes have full suspension, and are made to handle over big drops, and a lot of abuse. Road bikes are made to go fast, and don't have shocks or anything. Go to a local bike shop and they can tell you more about price. I suggest any specialized road/ mountain bike. And a Trek or Specialized mountain bike... Good luck. Later.
Yep, This is me.

Kona has got some awesome bikes that would fit the type of biking that you would want to do. Check out the site.

Well if price is not a problem, for your type of riding I would recommend a hartail. It can handle the trails nicely, and won't slow you down to much on the road like a full suspension would. You mentioned that your looking for light weight. I would suggest a trek 8500. They are a bit more exspensive, but it is well worth it for the bike. The bike is extremely light, has a good fork, nice tires, and shifts very smoothly. Heres some more specific info, and a good look at the bike. http://www2.trekbikes.com/bikes/bike.php?bikeid=1056600&f=18 Good luck in search of your bike.
