Is it a fixie or singlespeed?

How much is, on average, are fixie bikes (fixed gear bikes)?

I found a place where they custom build a fixie bike for about 800 dollars. but is that considered alot? i know thats should be more than average because its custom built... but how much can i pay to buy a fixie bike thats already built... maybe 200 - 300? and where is it possible to buy bikes

  800 bucks for a fixie is expensive! However, if you want a track bike for racing on the track, that is not too bad I guess. I built my own fixie with spare parts I've accumulated over the years. It cost me about 140 dollars, because I bought a rear wheel built up. If you don't have spare parts, I would go to garage sales or a thrift store and look for an older bike, one with horizontal rear drop outs will make the building process easier. Yet you can build up a newer frame like I did, but you'll need to buy half links for your chain, and lots of cussing will be involved! You can buy brand new fix gears for about 400-500 dollars. They might not come with brakes though. Ebay has people who build up fixed gears or singlespeeds, the prices are around 300 bucks after shipping. You just have to make sure you find the right size.
