Best time to go to mammoth mountain?

What's the best time of year to go mountain biking?

  • I am just wondering when peak times are for mountain biking. So the question is pretty self-explanatory. Thanks:)

    It depends where you live. Generally Spring and Fall are the best. But people who are serious about it will do it year round, as long as the weather is not extreme. You ride at different times of day depending on the season. For example, it's not a good idea to go out in the middle of the day during summer. Most people get their bikes out in Spring, and then it slowly dies down. So I like fall because it's not too crowded.

There are 365 days to pick from, each is the best day when you can get out and ride. If you are asking when is the most scenic time, spring and fall. Full moon night rides are great too, any time of the year.

Depends on where you are I guess . . . In New England . . . winter kind of sucks for road or mountain biking. If you live in France (I'm here now) . . . southern France it's great almost year round. Mountain biking and snow aren't the greatest combo . . . if you're into real thrills try mountain biking where there is a lot of ice. Ouch!

Peak and best aren't necessarily the same. I like my singletrack empty so I don't have to worry about running into or navigating around other riders. As long as the trails are dry enough to be useable, its a good time to go.

Fall is the best time to go, followed by Fall, and then fall. I love to mTb in the Fall; lots of leaves, NO BUGS, and usually nice cool temps(but not cold). I'd vote for Fall.
