What is the better bmx bike?

What bikes is better mountain bike or bmx bike?

  • i am planning to buy a bike

  • Answer:

Everyone is apparently just listing their preferences... Bottom line is... It really depends upon the kind of terrain you'll be riding. Both MTB & BMX bikes can capably handle jumps and basic "dirt" terrain. As you get into bigger jumps and more tricks, you'll probably lean toward BMX or a 26" dirt jump MTB. If you get into more cross country type riding or some more aggressive trail riding, you'll want a mountain bike with the larger rim diameter and more suspension options. What type of riding do you plan on doing?

That's an excellent question Justin. It all depends on the type of riding you want to do. If your going for long distance rides I would choose a mountain bike, if your going to be riding around going to B.M.X tracks I would say a B.M.X bike. My preference would be a B.M.X because I can handle it for long distances an at the end if there is a rythem section, I'd prefer to be on a B.M.X because I can trick it up.

If you are planning on going long distances..a mountain bike. If you are a young kid that wants to do tricks and jumps...then a bmx. Its very hard to ride long distances on a bmx.

MTB hands down. BMX bike is tiny and you have to sit really low (even with the seatpost out as much as possible) and it's just very cramped. For me at least. I'm not even tall (5'9''). Also BMX bikes tend to have really high gearing and you end up spinning more than you'd like to. You really need to ask a more specific question stating your intended use, budget, etc. A BMX bike might be perfect if your doing jumps but horrible for a 20 mile road commute.

I like mountain bikes but you might find that you are going to get more use out of a BMX bike. What are you buying the bike for, skate parks, dirt jumps, trails, trials, ect.

i would reccomend canondale mountain bikes, but it really all depends on the type of riding u do, but mountain bikes are very multi purpose as bmx bikes are very uncomfortable 2 ride

Depends your area and purpose. In my hood we use both. We do lots of tricks and stunts, but there is also a lot of hills and a giant one with a 4+ foot jump.

Its horses for courses, it all depends what you want to do with your bike.
