What is the best electric bike or electric bike conversion kit for my needs?

• I am looking to get an electric bike conversion kit for my mountain bike or to get a new electric bike itself. My current bike is a 21 speed Diamondback with a child seat attached behind the seat. I am looking to convert it into something I can still use as a mountain bike if I get a kit (i.e. on rough trails), otherwise I will either get a new electric or mountain bike on its own in order to offset any effect on its usefulness. I live in the mountains and there are a lot of variable grades on the roads here. I am looking for something that will allow me to easily commute over hills, etc. and yet also (if possible) offer the ability to use my own power in order to continue having the fitness benefit. I want to be able to use it to take my son to and from school and myself to work on a daily basis, so cargo space and less weight might also be a plus. Does anyone have any recommendations on electric bikes or conversion kits that might suit my needs? Thanks so much.
