Answer:
Its no biggie if you can't ride a bike. Some people can't drive a car. Its just not the thing for them. I know you have other skills you are great at, so focus on them. Don't worry about your neighbour. He seems like a prat. His particular skill he lacks would be social skills. Your friends are your friends because they like you. Don't stress majorly at letting them see you fail at something. I am sure they all have things they are not good at. Cycling is not for everyone. Thats just how life goes.

just tell him you can't ride it, and if he makes fun of you, just tell him "im rubber and your glue, so whatever you say to me bounces off of me, and sticks to you". It works everytime, just kidding. Just practice with someone.

Get a scooter and learn to balance on a scooter. Once you get the hang of it ( say, 50 to 100 miles of practice), you should be able to ride a bicycle. Wear a helmet. When I was a kid, bicycle helmets weren't invented yet, so we had to wear football helmets. Once you learn to ride a bike, you will never forget how, so it's best to learn while you are still young. No, it's not ok if you don't know how to ride a bike your whole life. When you learn to bicycle, you also learn the "Rules of the Road". It's best to learn the rules of the road while you are young (you can't teach an old dog new tricks). You will be much better off when you go to get a drivers liscence if you already know the rules of the road.

I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was about 47 years old! I was always afraid I would fall off the darn thing and hurt myself! Now I love to ride and I'm 54 years old now! If I can learn at my old age...you can too! Just make sure the gears on the bike are set at about 2 or 3 so when you get your balance you'll be moving! One day it just happened...and there I was pedaling down the street! They say once you learn you never forget. Keep trying at your own pace and have someone help teach you that you feel comfortable with and you trust. Good luck!

Learn how to ride it, but not in front of your friends. Remove the 2 wheels if you can ride it already and try to ride without it. You just need to control the balance of your bike, so don't ride too slow or you will fell to the ground. Keep on and good luck!

You can learn if you have the desire. Some suggestions that I have read on the bikeforums.net for adult learners are to remove the pedals and lower the seat, practice cruising around using your feet for power, steer, balance a little, find a gentle down slope and try rolling & balancing (grassy slope if you are afraid of falling). After you feel like you are learning to balance (pick your feet up off the ground and roll on bike with feet up in air), replace the pedals and keep on practicing. Raise the seat back up once you feel confident. Your heel on the pedal, your leg should be straight with no stretching to adjust seat. Your ball of foot on pedal with slight bend in knee is the right seat height. Good luck. If you simply can't or don't want to ride, sell your bike on Craig's list or donate to children's Christmas bike program.
