well the bikes he rides cost well over a grand.. as for doing it on a mountain bike... no he rides a trail bike they can also be called rock hoppers.. its a bmx style frame that has been stretched out and has different size wheels.. the parts on them are designed and purpose built to do what u see.. a mountain bike is not

As the other poster said, trial bikes are like a bmx with a stretched frame and typically 26" wheels (as opposed to 20 on a bmx). Most should come with disc brakes to give you that extra stopping power for landing on a rock and not rolling anywhere. What those two bikes have in common are ridiculously short seat tubes compared to a mountain bike or road bike frame. it makes the overall frame smaller and more maneuverable, but not good/efficient for actual riding. They also lack gears, another thing that makes them impractical as a daily rider. It is also common for both trial bikes and bmx bikes to have a very small front chain ring to increase the clearance from the ground. Larger chain rings liek you see on a mtb or road bike would catch on rocks, logs or whatever you're riding over. Mountain bikes will have a different frame shape (much "taller" due to a longer seat tube) and will also have gears. Gears will rattle around alot and can get in the way when you're doing trial biking stunts. As far as brands, just don't get any brand that is sold at kmart, target, walmart or any other discount store. Obviously going to a bike shop would be the best solution.

well as the other two have said that the mtb cant be used it can not advised but possible i can still do most my bmx stunts on one but what they have also forgot to mention is a jump bike which are like a cross of bmx/mtb it can have gears or be single speed i was better at trial riding on a jump bike as to my bmx plus as a double bonus they are quite light and also are effective to ride also your brand of bikes will depend slightly on wich type you choose mtb bmx trial jump just dont be stupid like i have seen a few others dont try it with a downhill bike
