  • Hello. My house is far away from my school 12 miles. And I looking for a fast bicycle. I have heard that hybrid bicycle is the fastest? Is this true? if it is true, which model would you recommend? And how long would it take to go to school by hybrid bicycle?

    If your intention is commuting, any road bike you can afford will do. Hybrids can be fun and comfortable bikes but they are not the fastest. If your intention is racing, look into an affordable race bike.

A road bike is the fastest. But a lot when depend on the rider. Just go to your local bike shop and see what they have in your price range.

Performance hybrids are fast. But the aerodynamic riding position of a road bike makes them faster - along with the slightly narrower tires which have a higher psi rating. How long would it take? Google usually figures about a 11 to 12 mph average in the city. 12 miles at 12 mph = one hour. If you can do it faster than that in the city - you're running through stop signs & stop lights. See your local bicycle shop if you want a good bicycle. Stay away from discount & big box stores.

actually, a TT bike would be the fastest, but a road bike would be the better option for you, go to your local bike shop and test ride as many bikes as possible and discuss with the guy on what you are looking for, try and find a bike with rack mounts. The fastest road bike will be the one that fits you best, you can have a 12000 dollar bike, and if it doesn't fit, it's a piece of crap.
