Which digital frame is better to buy?

Is it better to buy a bike frame a little on the tall side or a little on the short side?

  • I'm about to buy this amazingly well-priced vilano zulu freestyle but the catch is that there are no frame sizes between 50 and 54 cm. I'm 5'6" and I'm pretty sure my frame size would be 52 cm. Can anyone help me out? I'm thinking on the tall side and I have seen charts saying that 54 cm is the right size for people my height but I want to hear other people's opinions.

  • Answer:

fashion changes back in the 70s people used to ride them too tall now i think it;s back at ' a little too small ' they are lighter that way at any rate and not as dangerous to your gender bits if you have to straddle the bar unexpectedly [chain comes off, foot slips off pedal, lose balance etc] wle

This will depend on what the actual measurements are, and where they take the measurement from. For example, if the frame size is measured from the center of the bottom bracket spindle to the center of the top tube, the frame is going to be a different size than if they measure to the top of the seat tube. If it is the former, the smaller size might fit, if the latter, the larger size might fit. This will also be affected by the length of the top tube and your body proportions. Unless you can find out where the measurements are taken and the length of the top tube there is no way to tell which might be better for you.

You are always better off with a frame that is the next size smaller. You can buy a longer seat post or stem you can't lower or shorten the frame. You would be a lot closer to the 50 cm frame.

If you are younger and still growing you will need a larger frame size because your height is bound to increase. If you have already grown to your full potential get the smallest.

If you expect to grow taller, chose a bike that is a little on the tall side because you can grow into it and you can ride it longer. Otherwise, choose one a little on the short side because you can always raise the seat, but if your feet can't touch the ground when you are stopped, you could tip over. Smaller bikes are also easier to do tricks on.

Sit on the bike. If both toes comfortably touch the street without stretching you got your size. Does that take the guess work out of it? Never go to a frame that is too big unless you are growing very fast. You can always adjust your seat tube for a longer stroke. I still ride those little BMX bikes with 20 in rubber.

ix We are about the same size. I am 5'7". I would normally ride a 50 or a 52 max. The 50 wpuld be the better choice. Here is a frame size site for you to check. http://www.ebicycles.com/bicycle-tools/frame-sizer Happy Holidays! Soccerref

depends on what you want it for.what type of riding,

i would choose tall because i'm about ur size except that i'm 5'5' and i got a 54cm and it works well since i just adjust the seat and it feels smoother to ride a taller bike than crouch in a small one. ;)
