How do you find another user on Y!A?

Respected users what would it take to eradicate bad content from YA cricket section, any truce, amnesty period?

  • Its hard to find cricket content at YA. Accusations are flying around but the biggest folly being TU for bad content, just because the user is from a certain country, they get support & license to thrill at others cost. There are 8-9 teams playing serious Test cricket, hardly 3-4 team users are finding it hard to get along. Big shame isn't it. Pl let go of the past, good humour, banter, bit of leg pulling is pretty fine but serious racism, from anyone is not acceptable. Pl suggest some good solutions, it can't carry on like this, can it, its spoiling the fun at Cricket section. Be kind & take out your frustrations for the last time, to make this a better place, thank you in advance, SOLUTIONS PLEASE.............

I think you're a little like me TJ, a bit of an idealist. It's a nice thought but it won't happen. You have to remember two things: 1) Some people are racists thru and thru - that's how it hangs. You're not going to change that directly or overnight and probably never. All countries are racist - there is no nationality that is free of it. I doubt there are any people, adults at least, who are totally free of it. I'm happy to admit I have my hesitations with involving myself with some races - it's based on experience, does that make me racist? probably. 2) The most dangerous people on here are the ones you don't see, the multiple profiles from people too gutless to show who they actually are. I've noticed a lot with names like "?" - what too stupid to think up a name but intelligent enough to rule the world? These are keyboard warriors and unfortunately the Internet has provided them with an outlet that they would never have in a pub or a street market because if they said what they say with the keyboard they'd get their heads smacked in. The only time I've ever arced up really is one particular user threatened my children ... I think he got the message

► If we feel it is a troll, Do not answer to that question. Trolls main intention is to get attention from others. If you answer, then it will be an encouragement to them. ► If we feel that, question or answer contains hate speech against some user/country, then just report it. One person reports, then it may take time to remove troll question, What will happen if 10 people reports it ? Don't wait to report. Don't show mercy. Save our YA cricket section. ► We can request YA to put a moderator on this section to monitor at least for few months.( If we work like a unit against trolls, then we don't need a moderator ) ☺☺☺Suggestions☻☻☻ ****************** ************* ♦ Don't think that, you need to report only when you get a hate speech against your country. Who knows, that troll behaving like a your countryman ♦ Don't ever post "Reported you question/answer for so and so reason etc...". You will be get targeted ♦ Be patient when you get hate speech against you( or your nationality). If you respond with revenge what will happen to your account ? Troll will come up with another troll account. They might be waiting to get a RASH answer from you, so that they can report against you with their main account.

We know who the genuine users are. We should ignore the rest, that is don't answer their questions and don't TD or comment on their answers. Just ignore them altogether. I think it is a pipe dream, but that is all I can suggest.

Rise from the Ashes

A nice sentiment but I must point out that it's not the regular contributors that bother me,it's the faceless trolls who don't show themselves but continue to abuse by email, report & give TDs.I got 19 tds in one answer last week. You can't tell me that more than one person would do that, especially to a reasonable answer.I suspect at least two former users who had a great hatred for myself & others for no reason whatever. What can be done about them? Nothing IMO. One uses his troll account now & then to post insulting content but never his main (well known) account.

Some users here will never agree to a truce, they are a lost cause and the respected or semi respected folk need to come together in honor of the greatest game on earth. The best solution is to ignore completely and utterly the negative users, dont even bother with thumbs up or down. We should also try to out-number rude questions with interesting cricket questions. I get sucked into loaded questions sometimes and from now on will endeavour to ignore. Cheers fella

I agree with Quandary.Best to steer away from troll & racist questions though it is tempting to put some of them in their place. As Raju said report them & leave it at that.I have reported both Aussies & Indians at times with even the odd Pom thrown into the mix.Mostly Pakisanis are cool unless they are abused. Its a great idea and I wish I could believe it will happen but like someone else said its the faceless well known users with troll accounts who are mostly to blame in my opinion.

cricketomania

I agree with Rahul Dravid. that Car, Brett Lee, the Cartoon, Ricky Ponting, the Dog, some indian bloke and Shane Watson...there are far too many faceless users here on YA.

Psycho Singh

Just ignore and laugh at them as they are behaving like a child!
