Whats india famous for?

Australian cricketer refused visa to India.....whats all this about?

  • India have refused to grant Usman Khwaja a visa to allow him to play in India. Whats all this about? http://au.sports.yahoo.com/cricket/news/article/-/10004913/india-block-pakistan-born-khawaja/

  • Answer:

It is Racism on the behalf of the country he was trying to enter. Not allowing a visa simply because he was a Pakistani at some stage in his life is pretty bad especially when he is so much Australian now that he represented the country in cricket. The reason people would mention the US is because the whole civilised world revolves around the US and follows the leads they do no matter how over the top it may be. Ban liquids from going through security due to paranoia of a liquid bomb, America did and then the rest of the world has started to follow. Fingerprint and take mug shots of all foreigners going in to the US, America started, then Canada and it is spreading through many countries around the world. The US brings in a stupid law requiring you to give lots of person details and passport information in order to book a flight to the US, they start now most the world follows. The US makes it so anyone going to an airport has to be patted down like they are a criminal or go through and even more invasive process of being in a body xray thing or else don't go on the flight you pay for, now other countries are following. America invaded Iraq, a lot of other countries followed because George W Bush said they had weapons of mass distructions (and what were those?!). Everything America starts no matter how stupid or paranoid it is, the rest of the world follows. Next thing will be they have to microchip every human to enter the US and everybody needs to have a barcode tattooed to them and scanned to proceed past gates 10 metres apart.

Refusing visa to Indian visitors by US iis rampant and the Consulate officers have powers to take a decision based on intuition. They do not give any plausible reason and have the same answer to all who are refused visa that they are not convinced of their return from US without even giving any opportunity of convincing. My son was in US in 1995 and after graduation in 1997 was working there. I could never visit him due to my work load till I applied for visa in 2004 for 2 months' visit which was refused by the officer on the counter in a minute. I had hardly talked to him. Later, I got it with the intervention of a senior Senator and I returned in 2 months as stated by me. I then visited US 2 more times and never overstayed as required by law. Assuming that a person may break the law by looking at his face is a gross injustice. Error of justice can be pardoned but not the lack of effort to do so. I am not defending refusal of visa to the Australian cricketer. Without knowing full details, I cannot comment on it. But, refusing visa just because he was born in Pakistan is injustice as much as the injustice that was done to me. Edit: Latest news is that Usman has been granted visa. http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/cricket/pakistan-born-usman-khawaja-says-he-is-being-refused-visa-into-india-for-twenty20-tournament/story-e6frepmo-1226111910379 The reason that he was refused visa on the basis of his country of birth is Usman's claim and not confirmed from any source as a reason given by the visa officials. Such an assumption amounts to injsutice and improper blame to India and Indians. Pakistan teams have visited India without any problem. Edit: Whenever some controversial event occurs, we start blaming that country at which time we forget how many such controversies are occurring in other nations of the world. In Austalia, a large number of murders of Indian students occurred as part of racial hatred which no one from other nations discussed except the Indians. In the recent past, for a bomb blast in England which involved a Pakistani Muslim, his Indian Muslim friend who had settled in Australia and is a doctor was prosecuted wrongfully by the Australian government and was even deported to India. Later, a court judgement came in his favour and he could return to Australia. Action against him was purely based on his being Muslim and a friend of a criminal in England. An Indian diplomat's daughter studying in school in USA was arrested for the so-called obscene letter to her teacher which later turned out to have been written by a Chinese student who was never arrested. The Indian girl had to undergo inhuman treatment in American jail. Why non-Indians shy away from discussing injustice to Indians.

Its red tape and everything should work out ok. I can ubderstand things must be done by the book. The media is probably blowing this up a bit also.

Oh no dear. It happens all the time in the west and most blatantly in US. Is Usman more famous and deserving than Shah Rukh Khan? Not that I am endorsing this harrassment, but that is the sad reality for most many muslims after the events of 9/11. If SRK can be harrassed in US, what so bad Indians have done? We Indians always criticize the govt for being careless, whenever there is an attack, and the rest of the world gleefully joins the fun (not everybody). Whoever did it to Usman was just following the rules. He is a victim of terrorism and not India. I am still hopeful that he will get visa after some enquiry, but if he won't I can't blame my govt.

It is pathetic. It's not as though he was travelling there on his own. He's part of the NSW team for the T20 Championships. I agree with Mojojo, if there are any problems then the NSW side should do what England did when SA wouldn't accept dÓliviera in the English team. Edit: No problems now, visa has been issued.

Its not a new thing. Mostly muslims, afghanis and Pakistanis have to face this additional security check problem due to fact that most of the terrorists are Muslims and Pakistanis. Shahrukh khan being a muslim faced double security check in Usa, while he is the most known celebrity of the world. Khwaja can not be bigger than him. There are many instances when some muslims hided their original identity and origin and commited terrorist attacks in India. So its responsibility of Indian govt towards Indian people to take all precautions. It will be huge financial loss of Australian cricket, if they boycott the series. However they will not do this because matter is not enough serious and still is in progress. But he is a genuine player so he will get his visa soon.

We have to follow the guidelines and abide by the rules. He is somehow related to Pakistan and his process will take longer time than usual. His matter is being held into consideration not denied.

Sports and Politics should remain separate. they should not count every Pakistani in the same way. there should be a quick process for sportsman's, artists, poets etc etc

Kashif Khan

WEAK. India needs to sort this out quickly before it turns into a total embarrassment. No Australia/NSW should not boycott, cricket must go on.
