Surgical masks?

Why do i always see asian women wearing surgical masks?

• So, not being racist here, but I noticed there are a lot of photos of regular asian women wearing surgical masks... Even in my college (In Canada), there's an asian girl in my class who wears a surgical mask every day... I was just curious if there was some reason why? Is it a fashion thing? hygiene?

  It's actually two reasons that you see Asians wearing surgical masks. Both reasons are illnesses. The Bird flu and SARS, (sudden acute respiratory syndrome) are thought to have originated in Asian countries. Both are spread by the air we breathe, as well, both were thought to become worldwide pandemics. Fortunately for all of us, the CDC,(Center for Disease Control) and the WHO, (World Health Organization) jumped right on both diseases and have eradicated most of the causes. Asians are still paranoid about being out in public without having a filter over their nose and mouth, just in case!! Probably because their population density is far greater than ours.
