Where can a single mom in San Diego County get financial assistance for minor child?

Position at work eliminated 2/6/06, had work the week I lost my job, but have been sick for 2 weeks, rent due and I need immediate short term financial assistance while I'm seeking work. Where do I go for immediate financial aid for Imperial Beach, within San Diego County? Please advise - I don't recall the name of the local agency that may be able to help temporarily and I have a a 15 year old child at home to care for. I know this is temporary, but if rent is not paid, we may become homeless and I cannot let that happen. Please help. All serious responses welcomed and thank you in advance. I'm currently seeking employment, but have an immediate need.
