Why do people drink?

Ok im a smoker, but i dont drink,so why dont people screw around with drinkers the way they do smokers?

  • you have thousands of comercials everyyear saying how good this drink&that drink are but you have thousands saying how bad cigaretts are.it doesnt make sense.i dont down people cause they want to drink a little.and i have noticed that most not all drinkers smoke,if only while they drink!so why am i ridaculed.

  • Answer:

I do both and you are right....I dont drink often but nobody sits there and says OMG she is drinking Coors Light ....but they do say OMG she smokes Marlboro Milds. The bottom line is that all of you non smokers that dont like second hand smoke...stay away from us. Dont go anywhere that there is going to be second hand smoke like bar rooms restraunts etc etc Everybody has to complain about something and it seems to me that us smokers get the runt of it. That is ok we can handle it if we cant we will light up another cigarette.

When you drink, you aren't affecting the people around you (unless you get completely drunk and start hitting someone...), whereas with smoking, you are automatically affecting everyone in the vicinity. It stinks. Not only does it make you stink, it makes other people around you stink too, when it gets in their clothes and hair. I don't care what smokers do to their own bodies on the inside, that is their choice, but I do care when I come home from a pub smelling of other people's smoke.

If you're sitting in a restaurant sipping out of a glass, no one can tell if you're drinking Coke, or rum and Coke. So, no one but you is effected. If you're sitting in a restaurant chain smoking Marlboros, you are causing a cloud of toxic smoke to waft around the room, thus effecting everyone around you. Imagine if I sat upwind from you somewhere outside and opened a bottle of sunk urine. Don't you think the disgusting smell would bother you and wouldn't you give me grief over it? It is the same concept with cigarette smoke. Either get used to being the object of ridicule, or stop smoking. The latter would probably be the wisest move.

If you drink it doesn't affect me unless you get behind the wheels of a car. If you smoke it affects me. The second hand smoke is worse then actually smoking. We get more of the harmful carcinogens in the second hand smoke then you get smoking the cigarette and we have no choice in the matter.

Smoking kills a lot of people. Smoking is unfortunate because when you smoke a cigarette, you're exposing others to second hand smoke. When you choose to drink, you don't force alcohol down other people's throats. I think smoking is infinitely worse because you affect other people whether they're choosing to smoke or not. I have asthma, and nothing irritates me more than to go to a resturaunt and sit in the non smoking section but still be barraged with smoke and start feeling wheezy. I didn't choose to put a cig to my lips, but you did, and it doesn't only affect you, it affects me too.

first, smoking bothers other people who happens to be near the smoker. while drinkers do not affect other people around him, unless the drunk cause fight or kill innocent people (driving). there are very few big big cigarette companies left, and they always loose big in court. but there are just too many big alcohol companies, and nobody sue them and win large amount. thats why tobacco companies chicken out and loose power everytime new regulation about smoking in public is passed. they are simply outnumbered and affraid to loose more money in court. and some people like to get credit and think they become a hero when they can promote anti smoking in public.

Because not many people want to be exposed to the funk your cigarettes are filling their lungs with! If they don't have to be around you, I can understand you problem, but if they do, you need to be more considerate or face more such comments from people. As for the drinking, there are a lot of anti-drinking commercials on TV as well. Ever heard of M.A.D.D.? Both can cause very ill effects, but excessive drinking has the more immediate impact if you're dumb enough to drink and drive for instance. Maybe these barbs are meant to make you stop and think about giving up smoking for the sake of your health?

Alcohol doesn't produce second hand smoke. Both should be dealt with but both affect persons differently. I don't like either.
