Of course it depends on the industry you are trying to interview with, but a general rule of thumb would be When in doubt over dress and always go conservative. A fitted suit and sensible pumps/loafers will let the interviewers focus on what you have to offer as an intern not how distracting your clothes may be. Feel free to add personal style let the pumps be sling-backs or add an eye catching necklace.
