Are there showers in homeless shelters?

Do you believe the cities homeless shelters are a health risk?

  • With the jobless rate goes up and more people end up in a the cities homeless shelters. I ask you for opinion what you think about homeless shelters? Do you think thier a health risk? My opinion is yes there are a great health risk more like a very serious health risk. A public homeless shelter is the same as a jail, prison, fall out shelter durning the cold war. the health problen that can occur in these places is very serious. medical, mental etc etc. Medical> cold , flu, VD, STDs,AIDS HIV, and mainly T.B Mental> Serious depression, Malice,lost of interest in living. food is another problem, I was in a homeless shelter before, the food is not fit to eat. the rules in a homeless shelters is the same as prisons I think sheltering homeless is not the answer it makes things far worse! creating jobs and getting a new place to live is the answer to help these people who the victums of a bad America. Bottom line DO YOU BELEAVE HOMELESS SHELTERS ARE HEALTH RISK>...???

    I believe that they are NOT a health risk. Those people are actually very careful about cleanliness and the conditions are not very comparable to prison. The homeless, for the most part, choose to be there and can leave as they feel need to. There is no need, in my opinion, for concern on this issue.

But an even greater health risk is the attitudes, economy, norms & mores, lack of sense of community and a host of other deliberately unaddressed problems and issues that cause and generate (probably by design) it! And, its only going to get worse, as the "... rich get richer and the poor get poorer"! And, if you think I am just ranting, remember the "Bail-Out". And, that's only what we know about! :-((
