Why don't people care about the earth?

Why dont people care about the homeless?

  • Why do people not care about the homeless people on the streets and not care about it when gangs of teenagers beat the homeless to death for fun ?

  • Answer:

There is no simple answer to this, but it must be remembered that people who live on the streets do so out of choice. There are plenty of welfare agencies only too willing to help them - if they want it. Of course I'm talking about civilized places, not Los Angeles or DC - places like Oz and NZ.

That's an unfair generalisation, I care.

Because they are heartless and don't know what these people are going through. I've never been homeless but whenever i see a homeless person, i always feel bad that they don't have a home, or sleep on the sidewalk, or don't have family to be with. I don't get how people are just ignoring them.

It's because it's not fashionable to care about the homeless. The same as it's not fashionable for teenagers to enjoy spending time with their families or for boys or young men to date the shy nerdy girls or be friends with someone outside their inner circle who threatens their thinking with something different. The same as people don't care about helping people who are bleeding in the streets or waiting their turn at the lights or in a queue. The same as you add people on Facebook to chat to and the minute they find a girlfriend or you talk about something real, they act like scared little kids and stop talking to you but try and act as though they're really open minded and write all kinds of political things. The same as it's fashionable for people to use the word; 'racism.' The same as it's not fashionable to have an opinion without upsetting other people, despite it's being a democracy and people approach you with a debate and just get upset because you won't agree with them. The world's a pretty immature maladjusted place sometimes. Probably because everything's more expensive and people spend more time thinking about wealth and work over family, friends and relationships with partners and the community in general. Maybe with parents working all the time, the children learn from their example to always look out for number one. Homeless people are smelly and dirty and some are dangerous. Some people also feel threatened by such things as seeing others in a bad way and it gives them comfort to pretend that they don't exist by turning a blind eye to other people's suffering. Also, the pay isn't very good. A lot of people want to live in comfort and they won't if they work with homeless people. You may not be able to change that and may not want to be poor by working with them, so instead, you might want to do the Red Shield Appeal occasionally and/or make donations to some well known charities, just small ones and you can feel that you've done your bit because you have. Maybe you can choose not to be like these people and be a nice person.

Most people believe in self preservation, and could care less about the plight of others. However, there are plenty of people that donate their time and/or money to helping the homeless, so your question would be better received if it said, "Why don't some/most people care about the homeless?" Still, part of the indignation stems from the fact that many that are homeless arrived at such a housing plight because of substance abuse or mental illness. The vast majority of people that don't wish to spare even the slightest amount of spare change only fear that it will be used to further exacerbate the substance abuse affliction that they are suffering from, or fund some other unworthy cause that they deem their money not suited for. The best way to combat that however, is to simply donate a portion of food rather than what that food's monetary value might be. Women and children first in a blazing building? Most men (and anyone to be fair) would push aside anyone they could to save themselves. Drowning victims at times will drown the attempted rescuer, even if they are an excellent swimmer by pushing down on them to propel themselves to the surface for a desperate gasp of air. Like I said initially, it is a matter of self preservation, and not considered a concern to the average person. Better you than me, it is not me, so I leave it be (as some might say/think).

People are selfish. But anyway, some of the homeless people are bad themselves. Remember in the movie "Enchanted" when the princess enters the real world for the first time- she is very naive and trusting of the homeless guy and he steals her crown?

Because they're idiots who think that all homeless people are drunks or junkies.

some do care but there are just allot of jerks out there that don't care about anyone or anything
