Why do we have to give our taxes to people in receipt of state benefits who cant be arsed to get a job?

I'm sorry but I think you lack education. I agree there are a lot of scroungers out there but you mentioned 'drug addicts and alchoholics' has it occurred to you that some of these people are genuinely ill and need help? There is little help out there for these people only the lucky few get it (though I agree a lot may refuse it), think about victims of rape and abuse who have been left unable to cope with society and may well have mental scars. You also mentioned parents with kids at school, have you any idea how difficult it is to find work just in school hours? Goverment help with childcare is not enough either and parents are often worse off working than not working. You also said 'plenty of dog **** to clean up' why would you say that - is that all they are worth to you? Would you do it? I think you would do well to actually spend time with people you mention you might change your opinion and appreciate that most do not create their circumstances they are victims of society and as such we are partly responsible. Do you buy the Big Issue, I imagine not, yet these people are trying to earn a living and do we support them? No we don't, says a lot doesn't it really.

The fact is there are still many many people (myself included) that work hard, long hours, only have 1 child, never touched drugs or broken any laws and never been unemployed that still need extra financial support from the government in order to get by. Dont get me wrong there are plenty of people receiving benefits who don't really need them or dont deserve to get them but the system has no fool-proof way of detecting which people are deserving and which are just playing the system. We are lucky enough to live in a country where our government believes that we all deserve a basic minimum standard of living. Its not just 'fat, lazy' and unemployed people who have benefits!!!

Yeah... the government do seem to be doing very little to help, but have you ever wondered how labour get its voters? People rely on them, people need labour to stay in the manner to which they have become accustomed. Thats why we pay for them, and thats why they'll never change. I could actually get more money on the dole then I do now on my minimum wage, and I have a friend who cannot afford to get a job - if she starts working she'll lose her council flat and benefits and she'll be earning less than she gets now. She's a twenty four year old, healthy, educated woman, but thats the sad truth.

I agree with the part about job seekers and people who join it with the attention of not getting a job for as long as they can. usually chavs, they just pretend to be looking for work but really they didnt apply to one single place. they really should be fined for it or something, its benefit fraud in my opinion. the job center should set up 'fake' companies and give the dole seeker the companys adress to apply for a vacancy and then when he comes back to sign on next and says 'yea yea i applied to them didnt hear back' the job center will know hes lying cause they didnt recieve anything at the 'fake' place and then kick the bugger off. but thats just my crazy imagination going there.

agree 100 % it's an absolute farce why should i work to support people who are too lazy to get a job ? they lack self respect why should pupils get £30 a week for going to school ? aaaaaaah ! and yes i know people on benefits who would dearly love to work but can't for health reasons
