Are there any scholarships for adult students?

Do you agree that some college scholarships be given to students based on race??

  • even though i am a person that would be considered of "minority" race, i dont agree that schorlaships should be given based on race! it shouldnt matter if some "ethnicities are in more disadvantage than others"....in the end, scholarships should be given based on how hard ANY individual of ANY race worked and their determination. BUT if people insisted that some scholarships be given by race or ethnicity, it might as well include making scholarships for ALL races or ethnicities!not just a few! wouldnt it be considered "racist" if there were scholarships for Whites only?? then why isnt it considered "racist" when i hear about scholarships for Hispanics only or other ethnicities??!

    I think you bring up a valid point, and frankly I agree with you. In addition it's tough to say I've had various friends of all races who were well off, and friends of all races who were poor. It's basically trying to fix discrimination but using more discrimination. Hypocritical, Definitely. Edit: LS- oh here we go again. There is a huge difference between a PRIVATE company or corporation giving scholarships out, and frankly should have more leeway in picking who they think best represents them. It is entirely a different thing when you have our tax dollars and our tuition money going to fund scholarships for specific races. And frankly I don't buy your whole friend had a blond scholarship. Sounds like you are the blond one.

Affirmative action is still a form of racism, you are telling people of minorities ( I am in a minority don't worry) that they aren't as smart as white kids just black, or Hispanic, Patronizing because of race is disgusting no matter how you try to disguise it. Not to mention dangerous, would you rather you doctor be qualified to operate on you because of his or her grades or because of race?

Hell No. I live in Alberta and work my *** off in school. I don't mean to be conceded but I have the highest mark in evry class I'm in. I'm two grades ahead in math,one in every science. I'm not seeking scholarships for money, I'm doing it for the pride it brings. When I found out that white people have to have higher grades than native's to get scholarships I was so mad and angry. Just because they got treated poorly in the past doesn't mean they get a free ride. They don't even have to make the requirments to get in to some colleges. F$#K.

well i must say very opened minded of you...i'm white, but when going to school i didnt have very much money to pay for college...i was smart and near the top of my class, but never so educatiionally well off to get a scholastic scholarship... when i got to college, i found hundreds of minorities there, that got scholarship based purely on the fact that they were of a certain race, and academically couldnt hold a candle to my background...it kinda was since then that i really understood that being white might just be a great disadvantage to me...

I agree with you. I believe that it is no fair to give (example- Spainsh) a scholarship when they might be here illegally! And if they're going to do that, why not give them to everybody! Thats not fair, or right.

YES!! I fully agree with you! I cannot stand how people get things because of their race. How can we get rid of racism when we have things like this!?

Colleges are the most racist institutions on earth. Luckily, some states have outlawed this blatant racism known as affirmative action (Texas and California come to mind), but the liberal communist lawyers continuously try to overturn these laws. This is proof that racism is most deeply rooted among liberals, not Americans.

My oppion is this if we ever want racism to go away we have to do away with it all. yes that includes scholarships based on race, sex, or weither unwed mothers. It would also include Black Entertainment Television , the Spanish Channels, extra. Any thing that is named for a race like this helps keeps racism alive. Every race after all is in the end just human. Lets concentrate on that instead of how we look or talk.

I am a Caucasian male and affirmative action angers me so much. People saying that certain races are at disadvantages is a complete excuse. Just because my white European ancestors got their act together faster than other minorities does not make it right that those students get anything before me just based on their skin. and how about in the real world? If I was a fireman and had 2 open spots on my truck. and 4 guys applied, 2 black and 2 white. Lets say the white guys scored higher on the tests and got better recommendations and every thing but were passed over because there were no black men on my truck, that would be obviously unfair to the white men who were more qualified. but now i am at risk because i have two less qualified guys watching my back.
