I remember being sent to the local grocer shop in NZ for a loaf of bread and a pennies worth of broken biscuits. Oh the delight of looking in the brown paper bag and sometimes finding peices of chocolate ones. Also the loaf of bread that was joined together as 2 hi tops could be split in half and I could pick at the fluffy peices of bread. Yumm. On the way home from school was a small woods with magnificent pine trees the ground was full of pine needles and sometimes there would be the big red toadstools with white spots. I was convinced that was where the fairies gnomes and pixies lived so occassionally I would dance around a tree hoping to see a fairy.

Using my imagination and playing 'games' like schools and kill the dragon. We would turn the strip of trees out the side of my house into the 'mystical forest', or play princesses with my collection of toy tiaras. My mind doesn't work that way anymore, and I really miss it!

My mom taking my brother and myself to a major league baseball game. We could never afford to go anywhere and this was special.

I grew up in Detroit, Michigan. I remember with great, great fondness helping my dad rack the leaves from the huge trees in the neighborhood. Then us kids would run and jump in to the pile, seemed like for hours. Eventually, dad would set the pile on fire. That smell is the best in the world. Of course since the planet is so overcrowded now, we can't burn the leaves anymore, so kids these days can never have the same memories.

I have so many great childhood memories. If you're talking about 'things', in the mid 90s I remember when bell bottomed pants were back in, most children wore vested jackets, and those horrible backstreet boys type haircuts the boys had, and the bob style cuts the girls had. In primary school, I remember we skipped in 'Jump rope for heart', did cross country running, and had those discos. We also had yearly concerts/productions in a theatre, it was fun backstage as well. In year 6, we went on the toughest camp for 5 days: climbing volcanoes/mountains and tramping. I remember playing with my next door neighbour friends nearly everyday, either playing knuckle bones, or jumping on the tramp, and going 'trick or treating' with my friends. But my favourite childhood memory was primary school graduation (year 6), where we had the 'Friends Forever' song playing; it was emotional because it was the last time I saw my friends. :-)

I remember my mother who could make silverbeet stems and a creamy white sauce that had the stem soft, but not turning black through over cooking.
