What is the Elvish word and name that means Rose?

• I was wondering if anyone knew the Elvish word for Rose. Also, I would like to know if anyone knew a Elvish name meaning Rose. I saw the name Merilwen on one site that said it means Rose, but another site or so said it means Rose Maiden. Is there just a name that only means Rose? Is Meril the word for Rose? I'm new the the whole Elvish thing, even though they are one of my most favorite in fantasy.

  There are many Elvish languages out there, it would be better if you specified the one you want your word in. But I assume you want Tolkien's Elvish. In Sindarin (one of Tolkien's Elven languages) 'Rose' means 'Meril'. http://www.jrrvf.com/hisweloke/sindar/online/sindar/dict-en-sd.html 'Merilwen' is a common way to clarify that it is a name. It does mean 'Rose Maiden'. I think in this case you could simply go with 'Meril'. It does sound like a name on it's own. Another word you could use is 'Losillë' or 'Lossë' from Tolkien's Qenya Lexicon. This is, however, a way older version of the language Quenya and may therefore not fit anymore.
