  I have narrated below the story of KRISHNA'S marriage with RUKMINI. Kirshna and Rukmini were the incarnations of Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi, in KRISHNA AVATAR. The happening in every avatar is different and it is the full history of the avatar. There is no connection between avatars. So Krishna married Rukmini his favourite wife. Krishna is said to have married 13000 wives in Krishna avatar. Now read the story.. Rukmini was the daughter of Bhishmaka, the king of Vidarbha. She had had five brothers, the eldest of whom was Rukmi, a cruel prince. Rukmini had longed for Krishna and all her relatives approved of her choice of Krishna, excepting Rukmi who wanted her to marry Sisupala. To defeat Rukmi’s evil designs, Rukmini sent a messenger to Krishna asking him to come and claim his wife before married to Sisupala against her wish. She pleaded to Krishna to carry her away when she will be going in a procession to the temple of Parvati, the day before the marriage, waiting outside the city and capture her. She also said If Krishna did not come, she will cast off her life and quit from this world. Krishna got the message and proceeded to Vidarbha. Preparations for the wedding of Sisupala and Rukmini were apace. Expecting trouble from Sisupala and his allies Balarama brought a large army to be prepared for all eventualities. The news reached Rukmini she had nothing to fear. Her heart leapt in joy. The bridal procession went to the temple with many women accompanying Rulmini and was returning after Rukmini worshipped the Goddess Gauri and prayed the great god Shiva to fulfil her desires and to have Krishna as husband. The procession was reaching the marriage pandal Krishna came there riding a chariot driven by four milk-white horses. Their eyes met. A thrill passed through the entire body of Rukmini, she looked down to the earth. Before she could wink her eyes, she had been lifted up body from the ground and borne onto Krishna’s shoulder in the chariot. Before the onlookers could realize what had happened, the chariot rolled away, guarded by the Yadava army led by Balarama. Thus Krishna married Rukmini in Dwaraka with all fanfare. They were a happy princely couple..
