Are satan,the devil and lucifer all the same? also why is 666 the devils number?

Lucifer is probably etymologically the oldest name, as it relates to the morning star (a representation of planet Venus). 'Satan' is taken from Judaism, and means 'adversary' or 'accuser' - as Satanael he was meant to have been an archangel of justice. Finally, the Devil is more of a title. All three refer to the same being. It's 666 because the Book of Revelations says so. Why did St. John give this number, hardly anyone knows, but it's close to numerical value of the name of Nero, a Roman Emperor contemporary to St. John. The author didn't like the emperor, as it seems.

Because 667 is the number of the Neighbor of the Beast. So 666 would be a logical number for the beast to have. It all makes perfect sense if you think about it.

Lucifer was a fallen angel and the story about him being the most beautiful/wisest/powerful angel is told in Isaiah. It's easier just to read the wiki because there's a lot of dodgy translation or tradition that's not really in the Bible but believed to be. In common understanding they're assumed to be the same person. What I read was lucifer was the first fallen angel. Satan followed with many others. 666 is the mark of the beast, took from the Bible. I think it is a load of North African mumbojumbo. I like Thor with his big hammer.:]
