What makes you think the old OSR is haunted?
-
I have lived in Mansfield all my life. Visited the old OSR and my Grandfather retired CPT. Before it was closed. I used to go there all the time as a child and as adult. I have never seen or heard anything out of the ordinary. I am not saying it isnt I am saying I have never seen anything to make me think it is. If you would like to find out about it go to its web site. It was built on a old Civilwar prison ground so who knows. Haunted I dont know History alot of it there...

Answer:
OSR is supposedly haunted with several paranormal "hotspots" such as the two chapels, the area around the warden's office, the infirmary and solitary confinement. The cell that is marked with an "X" has also been reported to have unusual activity. The ghosts of both warden Glattke and his wife Helen are reported to haunt the reformatory's east administration building. Many orbs and mists have been photographed in the administrative wing over the years. Visitors to this wing have felt cold air spots while wandering its halls and have complained of camera malfunctions. The sound of slamming cell doors and someone running through the halls have been reported. Almost every visitor feels as though they are being watched from many of the cells. The Chapel is also an area of high paranormal activity. Orbs, mists, equipment failures, and mysterious shadows are just some of the strange events that occur here. Some people believe that the Chapel was used as an execution chamber before being converted into a place of worship. Ohio State Reformatory (OSR) also known as Mansfield State Reformatory, is definitely the most active place that our group has ever been to, and possibly one of the most haunted places in the United States. ~ Spirited, Ghosthunting society The team went to Mansfield, Ohio to the infamous Reformatory. This place turned out to be a hot bed for ghostly activity. The Investigators followed strange tapping noises, weird smells, and one member was thrown down a flight of steps by an invisible forces. ~ Haunted Investigators,Paranormal reaserch team There is also the footage of T.A.P.S from Ghosthunters investigating the reformatory. When you add up all these experiences then by sheer volume alone there must be something going on there.
