What is the illuminati, people always talk about it in youtube comments?

i don't know if its just me but everytime i look at YouTube videos, there is nearly always some mention of the 'illuminati' in the comments... i've heard stuff like Michael Jackson was killed by the illuminati, Rhiannia is part of the illuminati cult and drinks the devil's blood etc etc.. just crazy stuff.. WHAT is the illuminati please somebody tell me cus its driving me mad not knowing thank you
