Does anyone know of any overseas volunteer programs?

Does anyone know of any good volunteer programs that don't charge you a lot to volunteer?

  • My hopes are to go somewhere where the main language is spanish and to possibly work at an orphanage

  • Answer:

Perhaps you should consider volunteering closer to home. There are plenty of people in need, and I'm sure many of them are right near you. You don't need to travel the world and go somewhere that speaks Spanish. Giving of yourself feels good no matter where you do it.

No, sorry, when I've looked it's all been about £1000 with flights etc on top. Do you or your parents know anyone? My parents go to a church that has links with charities in Peru and Rwanda. If you can organise it yourself it will be free apart from flights. Try asking churches, schools etc what links they have and whether they can help arrange anything for you.

In most cases you will have to pay a fraction of the expenses.
