What are my chances of getting accepted in the peace corps?

What are her chances to be accepted in the peace corps?

• My girlfriend has applied to the Peace Corps. I (her too) have been waiting for an answer from them whether she has been accepted or not. She has been told when (June) and where (sub-Saharan Africa), just not if she is going. She is a triple major in history, poly sci, and religious studies and an active board member at her church.   Unless she is medically rejected (not too common), she will go. She should be at the medical portion or just past that, am I right? Medical clearance takes a long time sometimes. However, since she's Africa, the Africa-placement officers are usually quick with the invites. She has her nomination, so now her majors/activites/etc don't really matter--I mean it does, but she's past the worrying point for that. Basically, she has her nomination, and as long as she passes medical, she will get her invitation. Remember, the PC only has to give you the invitation 6 weeks ahead of time, so she should be getting it soon. If she's nervous, she can always call/email her placement officer just to make sure everything is going smooth. She might want to check out the yahoo group "peacecorps2" http://groups.yahoo.com/group/peacecorps2/ It has a great message board and great files about interview questions, medical forms, "unofficial departures," discounts on necessary items given to pc-volunteers, and more. As far as debts or loans, certain loans the Peace Corps will defer until after service or even get them nulled. If you have debts now, all the Peace Corps asks is that you get them taken care of by your departure date (so she still has about 2 months). She'll get accepted, it's just a loooong test of patience!
