How can i volunteer in east africa?

After seeing news stories about the drought and food crisis i wanted to help in any way i can. I don't have much money as i have just left school and only have a part time job. So i thought volunteering over there for a few weeks or something could help. The problem is i can't seem to find any volunteer sites that need emergency volunteers or short term volunteers in east africa. Also as i have just left school i don't have any higher qualifications than A Levels (biology drama and politics if that helps). I know VSO only really accepts volunteers with degrees and alot more experience. So after all my rambling does anyone know of a volunteer site that would accept a 19 year old short term volunteer without a degree in east africa? Any answers would be greatly appreciated :)

Sorry, but at 19, you are just going to be in the way. Instead of spending money to bring you over, aid agencies are hiring local people *themselves*.
